Campaigns of Genghis Khan: Scourge from the Steppe: Temujin united the fractious Mongol tribes by 1206, then embarked on a trail of conquest unseen before or since. He was a superb commander and shrewd strategist, but the string of victories was due equally to the Mongol system of war.
