Egged on by the "yellow press," the U.S. government blamed the Spanish for destroying the ship & America embarked on her first imperialist war.

Through the morning mist, Admiral George Dewey's flagship Olympia led his fleet into Manila Bay. Spotting the Spanish squadron arrayed along the shoreline, he calmly turned to Olympia's commander.
